With a record-breaking $82 million in its first day in the box office, new research released by IllicitEncounters.com shows that Fifty Shades has revamped our sex lives from routine to risqué. 438 of the 500 members surveyed said their sex lives had changed since reading the Fifty Shades books and/or watching the film. 62% of people said they pursued an affair since reading the books, because their sex life with their spouse was boring in comparison. 78% of people said they incorporated an element of 50 shades into their sex life or recreated the scenes.

The top three scenes people recreated were:

1)The elevator snogging session – 353 people said they got hot and passionate, kissing (and more!) in elevators. The top elevator locations were hotels, work and apartment blocks. Most elevators are monitored with cameras in the UK and you’re not covered by privacy laws because this is not technically a private area. “People do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in public spaces like elevators,” says Danielle Citron, a professor at the University of Maryland School of Law. “Public bathrooms, for instance, would be different.”

“It doesn’t surprise me that this is the number one scene recreation,” Claire Page, spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com said “There’s nothing more erotic than losing control in an elevator – with the added danger and excitement that you might get caught or be seen.”

“Before I know it, he’s got both of my hands in his vicelike grip above my head, and he’s pinning me to the wall using his lips . . . His other hand grabs my hair and yanks down, bringing my face up, and his lips are on mine . . . My tongue tentatively strokes his and joins his in a slow, erotic dance . . . His erection is against my belly.” – Fifty Shades of Grey, E.L. James

2)Oil bum massage – 321 people said they incorporated oil massaging into their sex lives, inspired by the erotic sensuality in the book. The top three most popular oils were Johnson’s baby, Burt’s Bees and The Organic Pharmacy.

“Sitting beside me, he gently pulls my sweatpants down. Up and down like a whores’ drawers, my subconscious remarks bitterly. In my head, I tell her where to go. Christian squirts baby oil into his hand and then rubs my behind with careful tenderness — from makeup remover to soothing balm for a spanked ass, who would have thought it was such a versatile liquid.” -Fifty Shades of Grey, E.L. James

3) Bondage and whips – 309 surveyed said they invested in handcuffs, ropes, leather or whips since reading the bestselling erotica.

“I think it’s great that more and more Brits are exploring sex and straying from the mundane,” said Claire Page, spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com “S&M can be so thrilling and exciting. I’m glad 50 Shades has made it more mainstream, even if it’s just something mild like blindfolding or handcuffing!”

“At the touch of leather, I quiver and gasp. He walks around me again, trailing the crop around the middle of my body. On his second circuit, he suddenly flicks the crop, and it hits me underneath my behind … against my sex … The shock runs through me, and it’s the sweetest, strangest, hedonistic feeling … My body convulses at the sweet, stinging bite. My nipples harden and elongate from the assault, and I moan loudly, pulling on my leather cuffs.” -Fifty Shades of Grey, E.L. James

New independent research by Atomik research shows that over a third of people (35%) think they’ve married the wrong person.

“Across the UK there are millions of men and women who want a 50 shades relationship but their spouse isn’t up for it or they’re too shy to ask. This is one of the reasons people think they’ve married the wrong person – when their sexual requirements aren’t compatible. We have a very simple solution for that: have an affair!” Claire Page said “If your spouse isn’t up for it, come to IllicitEncounters.com and find someone else who is!”

Although the mummy porn trilogy may have inspired people to look for new ways to slay their lust and find their inner ‘goddess’, there are certain lines only a small minority will cross. 96% of people (480) surveyed said they wouldn’t ever recreate the Tampon scene. The top three reasons were:

  • 1)It’s disgusting (73%)
  • 2)I wouldn’t get any pleasure from having sex on my period without a tampon (21%)
  • 3)It’s too messy (6%)

“His breathing is ragged, matching mine. ‘When did you start your period, Anastasia?’ . . . He reaches between my legs and pulls on the blue string – what?! – and gently takes my tampon out and tosses it into the nearby toilet. Holy fuck. Sweet mother of all . . . Jeez. And then he’s inside me. . . ah!” -Fifty Shades of Grey, E.L. James
