‘Red Tuesday’ Is the Most Popular Day of the Year to Get Dumped – Just One Week Before Valentine’s Day!

  • Tuesday 7th February, Red Tuesday, is the most popular day of the year to get dumped
  • 30% of a survey of 1,500 members of IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people, have broken up with their partner just one week before Valentine’s Day
  • 80% said that they no longer loved their partner, with 57% fearing the dreaded proposal
  • And in terms of the method of the break-up, the majority (55%) broke up face-to-face…
  • ….but 5% proved that you only need 140 characters to break someone’s heart, killing it off on social media

While many couples are planning to walk off lovingly into the sunset this Valentine’s Day, some are contemplating how they’re going to deliver the killer blow to their significant other.

That’s because Tuesday 7th February is Red Tuesday, the most popular day of the year to get dumped… and it falls just one week before Valentine’s Day.

IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people and the leading authority on infidelity, surveyed over 1,500 of their members, with as many as 30% stating that they’ve broken up with their partner a week before Valentine’s Day.

The reasons for the unfortunate timing? Well, the significant majority (80%) simply stated that they no longer loved their significant other, and felt too guilty to spend a day full of love and romance with them, knowing that they couldn’t reciprocate those feelings.

And of that 80%, over half (57%) said that they feared receiving – or felt pressured into making – a proposal that they weren’t ready for.

“It’s done out of a combination of fear, pity and guilt,” explains the site’s spokesperson, Christian Grant.

“Many find themselves in a relationship that they know has been heading off a cliff for some time, but they’re too scared to step out their comfort zone.

“However, the guilt can’t help but consume them as the pressures of Valentine’s Day become too much.

“The shame and general all-round awkwardness of having to profess your love to someone that you, well, don’t really love, is a dreaded realisation that many only open their eyes to at the very last moment.

“Add to that the fear of having to make – or receive – a proposal, and many will gladly choose the lesser of the two evils and hammer the final nail in the coffin before the situation gets any worse.”

And for those that do let their partner down this Red Tuesday, 55% elect to do so face-to-face.

However, that leaves 28% who could only muster the courage to end things over the phone, with 12% breaking up via text and instant messaging (presumably with a lot of sad emojis), with the remaining 5% proving that you only need 140 characters to break someone’s heart; they killed it off on social media.

Red Tuesday: Tuesday Before V-Day Is the Most Popular Day of the Year to Dump Someone!

92946-dealing-with-a-break-up-full

Make sure to hold on to the receipts for those expensive Valentine’s Day gifts because on 9th February, there’s a good chance you’re getting dumped. That’s according to IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people, who have dubbed 9th February as Red Tuesday, the top dumping day of the year.

IllicitEncounters.com surveyed over 2000 of their members, with 27% admitting to have broken up with someone in the week leading up to Valentine’s Day. Why so close to Valentine’s Day? Spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com, Christian Grant, explains:

“You’re on the cusp of what is generally considered to be one of the most romantic and important days for any relationship, and then you realise that you don’t love your partner as much as they love you, so to save yourself the embarrassment or shame of having to declare your love to someone you don’t really care for, what do you do? You take the lesser of two evils and dump them.”

IllicitEncounters.com’s survey also found the ways in which people have previously dumped their partners on Red Tuesday, with the majority (26%) choosing to break the news by text. 24% braved a face-to-face conversation with their now ex-partner, with 22% dumping their partner by phone.

Interestingly, the number of people who dumped their partner via instant messaging services such as WhatsApp, and social media networks like Facebook and Twitter, increased from last year, with 13% choosing to break up over Facebook, 10% over WhatsApp, and 7% breaking the news to their partner in a lowly 140 characters on Twitter. Ouch.

Grant explains: It’s not an easy thing to do [breaking up with someone] especially given the timing, so many people opt for the easiest option available, which is evidently anything that avoids face-to-face contact.”

Interestingly, IllicitEncounters.com has reported a record number of members signing up to the site in the lead up to Valentine’s Day.

“It’s not the first time that this has happened,” explains Grant. “For the thousands of people who break up, there are many who choose not to do so. Whether that’s out of fear, or whether they’ve already paid out on an expensive weekend away in Paris, they simply grit and bear it… but that never lasts for too long.

No one is going to sit around do nothing if they’re in an unhappy relationship, and sites like IllicitEncounters.com are evidently a popular alternative for those who don’t dump their partner this Red Tuesday.”

Women want sex while men just want to talk, reveals new survey

uq8lmvgvjbocbingi26c

A new study by leading extra-marital dating site IllicitEncounters.com has revealed that women are more likely to look for an affair in order to fulfil physical desires, whilst men are looking to make deep emotional connections. The results of the study questioning over 5,789 plus female members shows 72% joined the site because they were unsatisfied with the level of physical intimacy they receive currently within their relationship. Surprisingly, of the majority of the 4,326 plus men questioned, 68% are looking for an emotional or intellectual connection with an illicit lover, rather than just a purely physical one.

Spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com Mike Taylor said: “People who join Illicit Encounters are all looking for that something missing from their current relationship. For some – the physical side of the relationship is no longer satisfying, for others it’s a total breakdown in communication, while many are craving an intellectual counterpart. The interesting result of this survey is it’s women who are motivated to join due to of a lack of physical intimacy with their partner, rather than a lack of an emotional connection – whereas classically it’s the guys who are viewed as sexually more driven. The roles of females in society have, and still are, massively evolving, and I think this study is only the tip of the iceberg in that sense.”

One female member, Sophia from London, commented: “I joined the website after my relationship broke down with my husband and he was no longer attracted to me, we still get on great as friends and I am not looking to replace him, but I also need to feel wanted and sexually desirable for my self confidence and personal needs.”

Women today are more career focused, ambitious and independent than ever so they are certainly not going to sit back and do nothing if their sex life is failing – they take the lead and go after what they want. Today’s man is more in tune and open about his mental needs in order to be happy. It’s not longer a taboo for men to express their sensitive side, the need to feel appreciated and stimulated mentally – and in a failing marriage it’s the guys who are longing to connect with a female who understands them as a whole person.

Neglected Spouses Ditch Their Partners On Valentine’s Day For An Affair

wiynizyygrszx3n3lidb

Married people in Sussex have topped the list of the people most likely to ditch their spouses on Valentine’s day. The study done by the UK’s leading married dating site IllicitEncounters.comfound that the residents of Sussex were over 3 times more likely to spend Valentine’s day with their extra-marital lover or mistress than their husband or wife.

The study into Valentine’s day romance also discovered that having been disappointed or overlooked during previous Valentine’s days and anniversaries, dissatisfied married people are pre-emptively signing up to look for a new lover for February 14th rather than just waiting to be disappointed again.

The weekend before Valentine’s day saw a large increase in traffic visiting the site and thousands of new members joining the site looking for a date on Valentine’s day after it apparently became clear that a romantic meal or weekend away was not going to happen.

Spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com Rosie Freeman-Jones said: “Every year we see a surge in the rate of signups shortly after Valentine’s day, however this year we are seeing people who are joining in advance to try and find someone they can spend a romantic night with, rather than just waiting to be let down again as they have in the past. This has been a hot topic on ourletters page with members writing about their plans over the romantic day one member Joshua wrote in to say that he is ‘not going to allow this year’s Valentine’s Day be another miserable reminder of what is and what once was’ and that he is going to proactively look for a date this year. This has gained a lot of sympathy, as well as offers of dates, from other members who have commented on the letter and are in a similar situation.”

The counties containing the married couples least likely to stray from their partner on Valentine’s day are Hampshire, Devon, Cardiff and Bristol, these couples are the most likely to spend the night with their other half and delay seeing their bit on the side until after Valentine’s day.

Rosie added “This should be a cautionary tale to those people who have taken their other halves for granted, that they could be actively looking for romance elsewhere! Also it should offer some comfort to people that if the romance has gone from their relationship, they are not alone in that situation.”

The study also revealed that both men and women where likely to spend almost twice as much on gifts for their secret tryst than their husband or wife, with popular gifts being perfume, trips abroad, champagne or high end electronic goods as offerings to help seduce a new lover.
