  • No deal brexit could see cheating spike by as much as 35%
  • Marriages suffering under intense financial pressures drive infidelity figures.

  • Research conducted by married-dating website IllicitEncounters.com, shows increases in cheating during difficult economic times.

After the government’s shocking defeat on their Brexit deal, the UK could be barreling toward crashing out of the EU with no deal, new research by IllicitEncounters.com shows that this will have a significant effect on adultery in the UK.

In the event of no deal, at least one sector is set to flourish, infidelity. According to statistics compiled over the the 15 years that the dating site IllicitEncounters.com has been operating, hard economic times typically sees an increase in infidelity. With a no-deal Brexit this could be as much as 35%.

Cost of living isn’t the only thing set to spike in the event of a no-deal Brexit. Cheaters will be seeking solace in the arms of an extramarital partner, as financial pressures take their toll on marriages around the country research shows.

While not quite as costly as the EU divorce bill, ending a marriage is not cheap and people who find themselves wishing they were in the single market end up re-moaning in their marriages, opting to negotiate trade deals outside of their union.

When polled on how they voted in the 2016 referendum, for the second time the Leave voters had a majority, this time it was 70% of the 1000 members of IllicitEncounters.com surveyed that admitted to voting to leave the EU.

How did you vote in the 2016 EU referendum

  1. Leave (70%)
  2. Remain (24%)
  3. Didn’t vote (6%)

Harry, 57 from Great Yarmouth, a member of the site and leave voter told us:

“I voted leave for the promise of a brighter future, what we got instead is 2 years of stagnant pay and price hikes. The financial pressure has my wife and I falling out daily. My lover lets me blow off steam and keep my sanity.”

Spokesperson for the site Christian Grant explains:

“The only certainty around this shambolic Brexit affair, is that the number of people having affairs is going to go up. Significantly.”

“One of the leading causes of tension in a marriage is financial pressure, when the tension gets too much a lot of people find themselves stepping out of the boundaries of their marriage and into the arms of a more sympathetic lover.”

How male and female love cheats look and behave in 2019

  • He is a tall, 43-year-old manager earning £58,000 a year, driving a Golf with dark hair and big feet;
  • She is a 39-year-old white collar professional, earning £52,000 a year, driving a Mini with blonde hair and high heels;
  • He likes watching Match of the Day on TV while she prefers The Great British Bake Off;
  • The most popular characteristics of adulterers were compiled by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating site for married people

Here’s what male and female love cheats look like and how they behave in 2019.

The typical male cheat is a 43-year-old manager earning £58,000 a year – just over twice the national income of £28,400.

At 5ft 10in, he is an inch taller than Mr Average and his size ten feet are also one size bigger than the size 9 norm.

He drives a Golf, his number one hobby is also golf and his favourite TV show is Match of the Day.

He has dark hair with flecks of grey which he prefers not to dye.

The typical female cheat is slightly younger than her male counterpart at 39 – reflecting a trend which shows that people in the last year of a decade are more likely to be unfaithful because ‘watershed’ birthdays such as 30 and 40 prompt life changes.

She is also a white collar professional and, because of the gender pay gaps, she earns slightly less at £52,000 a year.

At 5ft 4in, she is also an inch taller than the typical British woman and she is also more likely to wear high heels on her feet which are a size 7, one above the average.

She drives a Mini, her main hobby away from work is going to the gym and her favourite TV show is The Great British Bake Off.

The typical profiles of adulterers in the UK were compiled by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating site for married people.

They looked at the most popular characteristics of 5,000 male and female cheats based on preferences in their profiles and questionnaires.

IllicitEncounters.com spokesman Christian Grant said: “What these two profiles show is that Mr and Mrs Average love cheat are richer than your ordinary person but in most other respects they are typical.

“They like the same TV shows, drive the same cars and have the same hobbies as anyone else.

“One other big giveaway for both sexes if you are trying to spot if your partner will be unfaithful is size. Cheats tend to be taller in both sexes and have a bigger feet.

“The other big warning sign is age, particularly if they are entering the last year of a decade. If your partner is turning 30, 40 or 50 this year, do make an effort to spoil them because they may be thinking of making a change.”

January is the busiest month of the year for IllicitEncounters.com with a 25% rise in registrations due to people becoming fed up with their partners over the Christmas holiday and acting on a New Year’s Resolution to spice up their love life.

Busiest week of all for registrations is this week – the first proper week back to work after New Year – when more people are said to file for divorce than any other week of the year.

Monday 7th January is the biggest day of the year for affairs

  • Dubbed Blue Monday, Monday 7th January sees more couples looking for an affair than any other day of the year.
  • Pro-longed festive period highlights the cracks in relationships.
  • Freezing cold weather likely to take the numbers even higher.
  • Registrations on married-dating website IllicitEncounters.com forecast to be up 28% on the busiest week for cheating.

2018 may have only just begun but affairs are tipped to be at their peak just seven days in to the year.

Dubbed Blue Monday. The 7th January sees more couples race to extramarital dating site IllicitEncounters.com in search of an affair than any other day of the year. After an overdose of Christmas, the New Year, and most importantly, each other, many couples are making splitting up their number one New Year resolution.

This comes in what is set to be the busiest week of the year for affairs with a forecasted 28% increase year on year in registrations for the UK’s leading dating website for married people IllicitEncounters.com.

In a survey of 500 new signups, 75% claimed that being cooped up with their partner over the Christmas period left them feeling suffocated and in need of some time apart. That, together with miserable cold weather, darker days and the despair of heading back to work has left couples across the country gasping for something new and exciting that the thrill of an affair can bring.

And IllicitEncounters.com sees January every year as the time when couples make their top New Year’s resolution to split and move on from their troubled relationship. Not surprisingly it also happens to be the peak period for divorce lawyers.

Christian Grant, the site’s spokesperson explains:

“The New Year is a time when people are making life-changing decisions so an increase in sign-ups at the beginning of the year is no surprise to us. The amount of new registrations since Boxing Day suggests that this year will be no exception.”

Grant adds:

“A period of family lockdown means couples spend an intense time with each other over Christmas which can be quite claustrophobic. This can lead to a ‘cabin fever’ situation where couples get so infuriated with each other that underlying problems are brought to the surface.”

“Studies have shown that more couples argue in January than during any other month, with many trying to deal with the stresses of returning to work, over-spending, eating and drinking over the holiday period and money being stretched tighter and tighter by New Year price rises. This leads to an inevitable build-up of irritability and tempers are frayed. Add to this the financial implications of getting a divorce and the prospect of having an affair not only starts to look appealing, it becomes a financially viable option.

The 7th January is one of the first days back to work and couples take this opportunity to explore all the things they couldn’t under the watchful eye of their partner.”
