50 Shades Inspires Thousands of Women to Cheat in Order to Save Their Rubbish Sex Lives

  • The release of 50 Shades Darker is inspiring thousands of women to cheat, reports IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people
  • The site has seen a 33% week-on-week increase in the amount of women signing up to the site (and 9% for men, too)
  • 85% of 150 women said that the film highlighted just how miserable their sex lives are, so they’re seeking an affair as a result
  • Many new members have adopted appropriately themed usernames, such as ’50 Shades of Grey Hair’ and ‘Balls of Steele’

While 50 Shades Darker is set to delight (or despair) audiences around the world, the film’s full impact has extended far beyond the cinema screen.

IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people and the leading authority on infidelity, has seen married women across the country flock to the site in search of an affair.

Specifically, there’s been as much as a 33% increase week-on-week in the amount of women signing up to the site from Monday 6th to Monday 13th February. The site also experienced its single busiest day of the month so far on Saturday 11th, a day after the film’s release in the UK.

Not to be forgotten, Christian Grey wannabes also went in search of a steamy affair, albeit far fewer, with a 9% week-on-week increase.

And it didn’t stop there, with many new users adopting 50 Shades inspired usernames, from the obvious Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, to the slightly more amusing ’50 Shades of Grey Hair’ and the even more salacious ‘Balls of Steele’, though we’re not sure quite how that one works.

But why? In a word, sex.

The site surveyed 150 women who signed up in the past week, with the significant majority (85%) claiming that the film only served to highlight how miserable their sex lives are, with many feeling that their husband is simply not adventurous enough in the bedroom anymore.

The site’s spokesperson, Christian Grant, explains:

“Whether you’re 19 or 90, sex is a huge part of any healthy relationship. Unfortunately, it can often dwindle with age, and many people accept it as part of the norm.

“Keeping things interesting and fresh can be difficult, but evidently, many women are realising that it doesn’t have to be.

“If their husband is no longer interested in being intimate, there is an alternative for them, they have an affair with someone who is.”

‘Red Tuesday’ Is the Most Popular Day of the Year to Get Dumped – Just One Week Before Valentine’s Day!

  • Tuesday 7th February, Red Tuesday, is the most popular day of the year to get dumped
  • 30% of a survey of 1,500 members of IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people, have broken up with their partner just one week before Valentine’s Day
  • 80% said that they no longer loved their partner, with 57% fearing the dreaded proposal
  • And in terms of the method of the break-up, the majority (55%) broke up face-to-face…
  • ….but 5% proved that you only need 140 characters to break someone’s heart, killing it off on social media

While many couples are planning to walk off lovingly into the sunset this Valentine’s Day, some are contemplating how they’re going to deliver the killer blow to their significant other.

That’s because Tuesday 7th February is Red Tuesday, the most popular day of the year to get dumped… and it falls just one week before Valentine’s Day.

IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people and the leading authority on infidelity, surveyed over 1,500 of their members, with as many as 30% stating that they’ve broken up with their partner a week before Valentine’s Day.

The reasons for the unfortunate timing? Well, the significant majority (80%) simply stated that they no longer loved their significant other, and felt too guilty to spend a day full of love and romance with them, knowing that they couldn’t reciprocate those feelings.

And of that 80%, over half (57%) said that they feared receiving – or felt pressured into making – a proposal that they weren’t ready for.

“It’s done out of a combination of fear, pity and guilt,” explains the site’s spokesperson, Christian Grant.

“Many find themselves in a relationship that they know has been heading off a cliff for some time, but they’re too scared to step out their comfort zone.

“However, the guilt can’t help but consume them as the pressures of Valentine’s Day become too much.

“The shame and general all-round awkwardness of having to profess your love to someone that you, well, don’t really love, is a dreaded realisation that many only open their eyes to at the very last moment.

“Add to that the fear of having to make – or receive – a proposal, and many will gladly choose the lesser of the two evils and hammer the final nail in the coffin before the situation gets any worse.”

And for those that do let their partner down this Red Tuesday, 55% elect to do so face-to-face.

However, that leaves 28% who could only muster the courage to end things over the phone, with 12% breaking up via text and instant messaging (presumably with a lot of sad emojis), with the remaining 5% proving that you only need 140 characters to break someone’s heart; they killed it off on social media.

British Women Describe Their Ideal Man, And Where You Live Can Affect Your Choice Of Partner

  • Over 5,000 women have voted on what they consider to be their ideal man
  • 71% of women found personality to be more important to them than looks
  • Women from London wanted the perfect combination of brains and beauty, while those in the North East found sense of humour to be the most important quality a man could have
  • The results come from IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people

While beauty has always been in the eye of the beholder, it seems that women can broadly agree on what they find attractive in a man, if they’re from the same region anyway.

IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people and the leading authority on infidelity, surveyed over 5,000 women from across the UK to find their ideal woman.

The full results are as follows:

London: Londoners want it all: smart, successful and fashionable. A combination of good looks and an adventurous, outgoing personality is a must for any man looking to win the heart of a Londoner.

Think: Harry Styles

The Midlands: “Humourous” and “fun” were the two most popular adjectives to describe a Midlander’s ideal fella. In fact, his personality is far more important than any physical trait could ever be. But, on the looks front, a clean cut guy with a big smile are the biggest priorities.

Think: Vernon Kay

Manchester: A little further north, Mancunians want a passionate lover who can keep up with them in between the sheets. A real gym goer, he’ll take pride in his appearance, with a toned and muscular physique. For a Mancunian, their personality doesn’t matter if they look *that* good.

Think: Channing Tatum

Liverpool: Sweet and generous, Liverpudlians are looking for the kind of man that you’d be proud to bring home to your parents – sweet, humourous and successful. His physical traits are largely irrelevant; if he’s relatively solvent, with the qualities necessary for fatherhood, he’s a keeper.

Think: Jimmy Fallon

North East: Sense of humour is king. Wit, sarcasm and confidence are prerequisites for anyone looking to charm their way to a date with someone from the North East. Couple that with a stocky build and a cute smile, and you’re onto a winner.

Think: Chris Pratt

Ireland: Scruffy, cheeky, and a bit of a livewire. However, that’s nothing that an Irish girl can’t keep up with. It’s not all fun and games however, as he’ll need the brains to prove he’s more than just the class clown, with Irish women having one eye on marriage.

Think: Russell Brand

Scotland: A real man’s man, a Scottish bloke must be decisive and able to take the lead. He’ll be smart, outgoing, and well-groomed. He won’t be averse to a drink or two, either.

Think: Gerard Butler

Wales: More so than anything else, a Welsh lass is looking for loyalty; someone who will gladly sacrifice a night out with his mates to spend time at home with his partner (and, possibly, the kids too). When he does go out, however, he’ll light up the room, and be as confident as he is charming.

Think: Barack Obama

Christian Grant, spokesperson for the site, said:

“While the ideal man differs from person to person, it’s clear to see that there’s some agreement among women who derive from the same region.

“More importantly, it proves that there’s someone for everyone. Even if you don’t tick all the boxes, there’s a good chance that you’re someone’s type – you just need to figure out which one.

“Interestingly, the study also found that if women were forced to pick between brains and beauty, 71%  found personality much more important than looks, with brains trumping beauty.”
