What your drink says about you!

Your drinks says more about you than your outfit or hairstyle, according to new research released by Illicit Encounters, the UK’s top married dating site. 74% of the 3,000 surveyed members said they could tell more about a person by what they drink than two minutes of small chat. Members were asked to match a personality trait to a list of drinks and the data revealed that 78% of members believe that Champagne is conceited, 58% believe red wine is pretentious, 69% think a Bloody Mary is extroverted, while 64% assume that those who drink a Cosmopolitan are flirtatious.

The study indicates that posher drinks suggest a higher calibre of class. James Bond was on the right track with his choice of spirit, with 72% of members matching the word ‘suave’ to the classic Martini. The cheaper, less sophisticated drinks such as lager are more commonly associated with loudmouths, with 89% relating the word ‘boisterous’ to Beer. We may enjoy our poison of choice – but what does it actually say about our taste, or lack thereof?

Spokesperson for Illicit Encounters Claire Page said “There has always been a social stigma to certain alcoholic drinks. If you think of the typical soccer fan watching a home game at the local stadium, you’d assume he’s got a pint of Fosters in his hand; on the flipside if you consider the drink of choice for a lawyer and his circle of socialites, it’s more likely a bottle of Dom Perignon. It’s a good idea to learn what drink stereotypes are associated with personality traits so you know what to order for a prospective partner, and you don’t offend a classy woman by buying her a pint of Budweiser on your first date!”

The study also found that drinks associated with negative characteristics could only make a person less attractive for 42% of people.

1,000 Brits were surveyed about the best places to hit on someone. The survey was carried out by Illicit Encounters, the UK’s top married dating website, to find out the best and most successful places to flirt with a stranger. The survey found the gym is the best, with the vast majority of people (66%) saying they would be flattered, interested and open to a conversation if someone hit on them when they were working out. The second best place to hit on someone is a dog-walking park, followed by the pub. The stereotypical places to meet someone like clubs or the workplace didn’t make it into the top ten list.

The top ten places were:

• 1) The gym
• 2) A dog-walking park
• 3) The pub
• 4) Online
• 5) An interest class, like a writing course, hiking club or art class
• 6) The market/supermarket
• 7) Church
• 8) On holidays
• 9) House parties/dinner parties
• 10) Museums/art exhibitions

69% of men were likely to respond positively to being hit on at the gym. The top three reasons were 1) Women are attracted to strength which I can demonstrate at the gym 2) I look my best when I’m working out 3) I feel great at the gym

In comparison, 64% of women were likely to respond positively to being hit on at the gym.

The 36% of women who said they wouldn’t respond positively to flirting at the gym said the top three reasons were 1) I look red and sweaty at the gym 2) I’m not wearing make-up at the gym or if I am wearing make-up it slides off with sweat 3) I don’t want any distractions at the gym.

“The top reasons people want or don’t want to be hit on at the gym are mostly vanity-based,” psychologist Lucy Redford said, “People can flirt anywhere, but there are some places that are better to flirt than others. At the gym or a fitness class it’s not like a first date with the pressure of trying to find something in common, you’ve already got fitness in common. Your body releases happy hormones like endorphins when you work out but your brain also releases a protein called BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) which has a proactive and reparative element to your memory neurons and acts as a reset factor. That’s why we often feel at ease and like things seem better after exercising.”

“It makes sense that the best place to hit on someone is the gym,” Claire Page, spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com said, “You’re working out, you’re focusing on a positive goal and getting into shape, so someone hitting on you, which is always flattering, is going to be more of a compliment when you’re sweating because it makes you think your exercise regime to look good is working. Dog walking parks are not a huge shocker either. You immediately have things in common, you immediately have things to talk about. Having a dog also says a lot about a person. It shows they’re caring, responsible, affectionate and loyal – all things you usually learn about a person after knowing them for a few days, but knowing it immediately puts you in a better position to speed-track this judgment. People don’t start serious relationships at a club because more often than not, people are too drunk to start anything meaningful, or are with a group of friends who they don’t want to leave to talk to a stranger. Similarly, it can be very intimidating for someone to approach a man or a woman when they’re with a big group of friends. The reason pubs are more popular than clubs is because you can have a better conversation, you’re not shouting over club music. It’s never a good idea to start an office romance because if it turns sour it makes work-life very awkward.”

Out of the top five actors people voted to sleep for, the votes were broken up into the following ratios:

Actors Have Better Sex Lives than any other Profession!

New research released by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s top married dating site, shows that actors have better sex lives than any other profession, beating models, lawyers, politicians and bankers. Over 2,000 people were surveyed in twenty different job categories and those in ‘acting and performing’ have more sex and more sexual partners than any other profession.

The 100 people in the ‘acting and performing’ industry have on average five sexual partners a year and have sex three times a week, which was 550% more than those in the ‘banking’ industry who have on average one sexual partner a year and have sex once every two weeks; and 400% more than those in the ‘modelling’ industry, who have on average two sexual partners a year and have sex twice a week.

“Talent is extremely attractive,” said Claire Page, spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com “People who have the ability to interpret art and express themselves onstage and on camera will naturally draw admiration. It doesn’t surprise me that actors have better sex lives than any other profession – who wouldn’t want to have an illicit encounter with an up-and-coming Benedict Cumberbatch, Angelina Jolie or Chris Hemsworth? It is thought that asymmetrical features are a sign of underlying genetic problems. Numerous studies have shown that men in particular go for women with symmetrical faces. However, confidence and intelligence are also extremely attractive. These characteristics help seal a relationship long-term and are also what make someone, like an actor, attractive to the public. Watching an actor perform, we think they are confident (this trait is assumed when they get on stage or in front of a camera crew) and intelligent (this trait is assumed when they take on the personality of another in playing a role). Some of today’s biggest actors are not symmetrically perfect but are still extremely attractive, like Geoffrey Rush, Willem Dafoe, Seth Rogen and Christopher Walken.”

Proof that Running Prolongs Your SEX Life!

New research by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s largest married dating site, shows that if you jog as little as once a week, you have a 79% higher chance of being regularly sexually active after the age of 50, than someone who doesn’t exercise.

The research surveyed 1,000 members over the age of 50 who have sex more than once a fortnight, and 1,000 members over the age of 50 who have sex less than once a fortnight or no longer have sex.

Of the 1,000 members who have regular sex, 61% of them (613) jog once or twice a week, while 24% of them (236) jog three times or more a week. 15% of the remaining either regularly exercise in other ways such as yoga, swimming or Pilates (13%), or don’t regularly exercise (2%). Two in ten joggers have sex once a day and sixty five per cent strike up a conversation or ‘check out’ someone of the opposite sex when jogging.

Of the 1,000 members who have sex less than once a fortnight or no longer have sex, only 56 (5.6%) jog once or twice a week, while 12 (1.2%) jog three times or more a week. Less than 4% (37 people) do other regular exercise, such as yoga, swimming or Pilates. A staggering 895 of those who don’t jog or do exercise also don’t have regular sex!

“The health benefits of jogging are fantastic!” said Chris O’Connor, personal trainer “It’s great for diseases like osteoporosis and arthritis because it helps the joints and bones, as well as improving cardiovascular fitness, and of course weight loss. People don’t realize there are a lot of mental benefits to running. It’s the number one natural solution to depression and anxiety because your body releases endorphins when you jog – that’s why so many people get addicted. It makes sense that people who jog regularly have a better sex life than those who don’t. When you jog you have more energy, you’re more flexible, you have better breathing and stamina, your testosterone levels increase – of course you’re going to have sex more often!”

​Pancake Tuesday – the new Valentine’s Day for Mistresses

Last week, over one billion Valentine’s cards were sent throughout the world, but new research by IllicitEncounters.com reveals that there is a second celebration of love coming up – Pancake Tuesday is the closest national celebration men will spend with their mistresses, because spending Valentine’s Day away from their wives is “too obvious”.

The poll, which surveyed 2,000 IE male members, found that 68% (1361) of men having an affair will spend the week after Valentine’s with their mistresses, and Pancake Tuesday was the top date men said they will spend with their mistresses scooping 72% of the votes.

1,000 of our female members were asked ‘Would you like your husband to surprise you with pancakes in bed on Pancake Tuesday?’ and 98% of them said ‘yes’. Despite this, when the men were asked ‘Will you make a pancake for your wife?’ only 43% said they would.

The 57% who won’t, were asked ‘Why won’t you make a pancake for your wife?’ the top three answers were:

1)She won’t like the way I make it

2)She’s busy getting ready for work in the morning

3)She’ll complain about the mess in the kitchen

When asked if they will buy or bake a pancake for their mistress, the majority of the surveyed said they would (61%) and the most popular flavourings were traditional butter, lemon and sugar; followed by Nutella.

The survey also found that married men spent more on their wives than mistresses –on average, the 2,000 surveyed men spent an average of £147.60 on Valentine’s gifts for their lovers compared to just £120 on their spouse. Mistress gifts were also more likely to be more sensual, like lingerie, champagne or chocolates, compared to practical gifts for their wives, like a phone upgrade or a new purse.

With a record-breaking $82 million in its first day in the box office, new research released by IllicitEncounters.com shows that Fifty Shades has revamped our sex lives from routine to risqué. 438 of the 500 members surveyed said their sex lives had changed since reading the Fifty Shades books and/or watching the film. 62% of people said they pursued an affair since reading the books, because their sex life with their spouse was boring in comparison. 78% of people said they incorporated an element of 50 shades into their sex life or recreated the scenes.

The top three scenes people recreated were:

1)The elevator snogging session – 353 people said they got hot and passionate, kissing (and more!) in elevators. The top elevator locations were hotels, work and apartment blocks. Most elevators are monitored with cameras in the UK and you’re not covered by privacy laws because this is not technically a private area. “People do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in public spaces like elevators,” says Danielle Citron, a professor at the University of Maryland School of Law. “Public bathrooms, for instance, would be different.”

Teachers are the Recipe for a Happy Marriage!

New research released today by Britain’s largest married dating site, IllicitEncounters.com, shows that teachers are the best ingredient for a happy marriage! When 1,000 IE members across the UK and Ireland were asked ‘What do you do for a career?’ the lowest percentage of them (0.5%) said they were teachers. As well as that, when asked ‘what job would you like the mother/father of your children to have?’ the highest answer was ‘teacher’ (27%), beating ‘CEO’, ‘salesman’, ‘actor’ and ‘engineer’.

The top six professions the 1,000 respondants had were:

• 1)CEOs or business owners (243 votes)
• 2)Lawyers (213 votes)
• 3)Politician/local councillor/senior civil servant (205 votes)
• 4)Banker (129 votes)
• 5)Doctor/Surgeon/GP (106 votes)
• 6)Personal trainer (104 votes)

Five out of the thousand who said they were cheaters said they were principles (2 men and 1 woman), taught maths (1 woman) or drama (1 woman).

So why exactly are teachers 486% more likely to stay faithful than CEOs or business owners?

“There are many reasons why teachers are more likely to commit to a marriage than other professions,” said psychologist Lucy Redford, “Unless they’ve made a horrific career choice, teachers are usually very good with children. In the classroom they can see the effect of arguing or separated parents, and because most teachers are empathetic, they won’t want to create the same turbulence in their own home. They’ll more than likely have the ability to discipline children because it’s their job (both in school and at home). It’s for this reason that teachers have a high respect and commitment to a marriage and won’t risk fracturing it.”

Claire Page, spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com said “What I find most interesting about this survey is that people seem to have good instincts, because despite the financial benefits, most people didn’t want the father or mother of their children to be CEOs, and CEOs in this surveys ranked the least faithful profession.”

The top five reasons people said they wanted their children’s other parent to be a teacher were:

• 1)They’ve great summer holidays.
• 2)They’re patient – teaching teaches teachers patience.
• 3)Teachers have good and predictable hours.
• 4)Teachers are protectors. They don’t tolerate bullying.
• 5)They are incredibly influential. Teachers shape futures.

​Friday the 13th – you won’t get lucky on the most unlucky night of year…even if it is on Valentine’s Eve!

New research released today shows that 67% of women won’t go on a first date on Friday the 13^th, even if is it Valentine’s Eve. The study, by IllicitEncounters.com the UK’S largest married dating site, asked 1,500 female members if they would go on a date tomorrow – Valentine’s Eve, Friday the 13^th and a staggering 1,005 women said they wouldn’t, even if it was with someone they really liked!

The 33% who said they would go were asked ‘If you went on a date, how would it affect you?’ and the results were:

1)At the back of my mind, I’d think the relationship would be doomed (43%)

2)I wouldn’t have sex in case it was bad (25%)

3)I would notice anything bad happening and put it down to Friday 13^th (20%)

4)I wouldn’t have sex in case I got an STI/pregnant (18%)

5)It wouldn’t affect me (14%)

“There are many different reasons men will ask a girl out this Friday the 13^th” Claire Page, spokesperson for Illicit Encounters said, “The good restaurants are booked up by now for the 14^th February, so if you ask a girl out last minute, you might have to settle for Valentine’s Eve, not Valentine’s night. Another reason men are booking restaurants, hotels and theatre outings tomorrow is because Groupon, Wowcher and LivingSocial deals aren’t valid on Valentine’s Day. The businesses don’t need to use discount websites because they’re going to be so busy on the 14^th, so men who want to get a bargain will book for the 13^th instead.”

Psychic Sally Morgan said for her, Friday the 13^th is actually a lucky day – “Personally I have always found the number 13 to be good for me, I was born at number 13 and lived and grew up at number 13, if you read my book ‘My Psychic Life ‘ you will see I talk about the ghosts that were in this house. I met John my husband on Friday 13th, my eldest grandson was born on the 13th and for me the 13th ( even Friday 13th ) has always been a positive day, I feel we make our own ‘luck’ and so often when we perceive a situation as being ‘bad luck ‘ it’s looking at that situation as our glass half empty.”

Psychologist Lucy Redford said “If the main reason men are booking dates on the 13^th instead of the 14^th is to save money, this won’t be well received by women in the slightest. Being a miser isn’t attractive to anyone, especially on Valentine’s Day. Everyone wants to feel important and avoiding the international celebration of love for the sake of saving money tells a women she’s not worth the financial difference. Women are especially competitive about things like: where they went and what they got for Valentine’s Day so, in a way, yes, on this occasion Friday the 13^th could prove unlucky for men across the UK!”

Accountants Make Best Husbands…to Cheat on!!

New research released today by Britain’s largest married dating site, IllicitEncounters.com, shows that women cheat more on accountants than any other profession! When 1,500 female members across the UK were asked ‘What does your husband do for a career?’ the highest percentage of them (13%) said they were accountants.

The top six reasons these women started affairs were:

• 1)The excitement has gone in our marriage (563 votes)
• 2)We’ve lost our connection (233 votes)
• 3)The sex drive has gone in our marriage (214 votes)
• 4)We spend too much time apart (211 votes)
• 5)We spend too much time together (196 votes)
• 6)I don’t feel special to him any more (83 votes)

So why exactly do so many women want to marry an accountant but can’t stay faithful?

“Stability, both financial and personal is the number one thing people seek in marriages,” said psychologist Lucy Redford, “The typical accountant is seen as stable, reliable and responsible. Consciously or sub-consciously, all women seek these characteristics in a mate. The number one reason people stray from marriages is because excitement is replaced by routine, and what was once seen as a spark becomes a chore. Every relationship requires work, but it still needs to be worth working for.”

Claire Page, spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com said “Finding out your partner had an affair isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Oftentimes it brings to the surface the unspoken tensions and problems couples have and when people cheat and are caught, it usually brings about better communication and clears the air.

On the good side, if you’re an accountant and your wife is straying, she won’t let the affair break her marriage, because only 3 in the 195 cheating women said they would consider leaving their accountant husbands!
